When someone is said to be ‘touched’ the question could be asked ‘Touched by what?’ Whether they are touched by a gesture or by the influence of another person; event, or devine power it suggests a change for the better. Surroundings define mood, and conversly mood can in some way defining surroundings (or, in this case, the colourful backdrop of a woman who's recently experienced a revelation)...

This also refers to the phrase ‘a stroke of genius’.
