A new mother gazes into the fireplace while her infant sleeps on her shoulder.

In this painting I took up the challenge of creating a recognisable portrait without showing the sitter’s face. The posture speaks of gentleness, and tender devotion and also leaves us in no doubt that we are witnessing an intimate and loving moment.
